Fotoworkshop & Ausstellung zu unseren Erfahrungen im öffentlichen Raum
Warum vermitteln uns manche Orte ein Gefühl von Sicherheit oder Aufregung – und andere nicht? Wo fühlen wir uns im öffentlichen Raum am wohlsten und warum? Gibt es so etwas wie einen universell sicheren Raum?
Komm und erkunde gemeinsam mit uns die Umgebung der LUISE durch Fotografie – und präsentiere deine Fotos in einer gemeinsamen Ausstellung!
Der Fotoworkshop mit der tschechischen Künstlerin, Dozentin und Kuratorin Tereza Bonaventurová hat zum Ziel, zu erforschen, wie wir uns an bestimmten Orten im öffentlichen Raum fühlen – und warum.
Der Workshop startet mit einer kleinen Ideensammlung, bei der wir uns mit den Begriffen „Safe Space“ (sicherer Raum) und „Public Space“ (öffentlicher Raum) beschäftigen. Jede:r Teilnehmer:in definiert, was diese Begriffe persönlich bedeuten. Anschließend machen wir uns mit der Kamera auf den Weg in die Nachbarschaft, um die verschiedenen Facetten des öffentlichen Raums in Bezug auf unsere eigenen Wahrnehmungen und Gefühle zu fotografieren.
Das Ziel des Workshops ist nicht, technisch perfekte Fotos zu machen, sondern fotografisches und konzeptionelles Denken über unsere Umgebung zu entwickeln. Außerdem erstellen wir gemeinsam eine emotionale Topografiekarte, in die wir unsere Erkenntnisse und Ideen grafisch einfließen lassen.
Das Ergebnis des Workshops wird eine Pop-up-Ausstellung in der LUISE sein, die ab 9. Dezember im Foyer der LUISE zu sehen ist.
Praktische Informationen:
Der Workshop findet auf Englisch statt.
Keine Vorkenntnisse erforderlich.
Bitte bring eine Kamera mit – auch ein Handy reicht völlig aus.
Die Dauer des Workshops beträgt ca. 4 Stunden.
Bei Interesse arbeitet die Künstlerin auch an weiteren Tagen mit dir zusammen oder du kannst dich am kuratierenden Prozess und der Ausstellungsvorbereitung beteiligen

Photo workshop on how we feel in public space
Why do some places give us a sense of safety or excitement, and others not? Where do we feel most comfortable in public space and why? Is there such a thing as universal safe space?
Come and explore the area surrounding LUISE through photography and present your photos at a joint exhibition! A photography workshop with Czech artist, lecturer, and curator Tereza Bonaventurová aims to map how we feel in certain places in public space and why. The workshop will include brainstorming, during which we will focus on the terms "safe space" and "public space," and everyone will define what these terms mean to them personally. We will then head out into the local neighbourhood to photograph the various nuances of public space in relation to our own perceptions and feelings. The goal of the workshop will not be to take technically perfect pictures, but rather to learn to think photographically and conceptually about our surroundings. The workshop will also include the creation of a joint emotional topography map into which we will graphically incorporate our findings and ideas.
The outcome of the workshop will be a pop-up exhibition at LUISE. Tereza Bonaventurová will prepare a selection of the participants’ photographs to be presented in the foyer of LUISE, opening on 9December.
Practical information:
The workshop will be held in English.
No previous experience is necessary.
Bring any camera, including a phone.
The duration of the workshop is approx. 4 hours.
If you are interested, the instructor will work with you for longer, on other days, or you can participate in the curatorial process and exhibition preparations.
The workshop is part of Tereza Bonaventurová’s artistic residency, organised by the Czech Centre Munich, the Arts and Theatre Institute in Prague and LUISE. The residency is dedicated to the theme of safe(r) spaces, focussing on issues of safety, resilience, and mutual understanding within urban spaces.
Tereza Bonaventurová (*1992) is a Czech visual artist, lecturer, and curator. She holds a degree in photography from the Faculty of Art and Design in Ústí nad Labem, graduating in 2018. During her studies, she took part in internships abroad at the universities of Istanbul and Valencia, which significantly shaped her artistic approach. In her photographic work, she mainly deals with reflections onpublic space in Czech and foreign cities, their visuality, and urbanism. She has written several publications, including Luxury of Emptiness, where she focusses on the visual smog of Czech cities.
As a lecturer, she has led countless guided walks and artist talks on the visual pollution of different cities and has run many photography workshops devoted to reflections on various urban structures. She is the curator of Prague's Galerie Fotografic, which focuses on contemporary photography in Central Europe.
